Is this directed at the GT, or F1? If the former, I agree. If the latter, my response is that both the Buick and Ford can surpass the F1 engines' power levels, which coupled with the crappy sound and insanely complex tech makes you wonder what the point is.

I would rock the shit out of a Gran National. It's what GM should've been making instead of the malaise mediocrity-mobiles.

I highly approve of these shenanigains, and also Buick's insane underrating of their engines. 240hp supercharged V6? Actually known to make 300 at the WHEELS.

You glorious insane bastards.

Is that yours? Pretty sure I've seen exhaust vids on YouTube, because that license plate looks awfully familiar. If I remember right the one I saw had a GT2 cam and Magnaflows

Yeah, It's mine. It had an Intense S1X cam, stainless longtubes and dynomax super turbo muffler.

Engine is getting a rebuild now and will run a bigger custom grind from WOT Tech.

How much power was it making like that? Is it tuned for 91? Ported intake? Runner inserts? Exhaust manifolds?

Short list on what it had when I dyno'd it:
Whisper lid & silencer delete
Stainless longtube headers
Dynomax 3" turbo muffler (dyno'd open headers)
Street ported intake/heads from WOT-Tech
S1X NA cam
1.7 yella terra roller rockers
Milled heads and MLS gaskets to bring compression to 10:1 from 9.3:1
Built auto, big 3800 stall that was pretty loose (this is important for what I'm about to say)

With just a stock engine, and full exhaust/headers I dyno'd 169hp & 184ft/lbs. I dyno'd about 15-20hp more than a stock Firebird there.

With the new motor, built trans and unlocked stall I did 196hp & 196tq. We had some false knock and also they didn't want to lock the stall for fear of damaging it. Car potentially had 220 in it.

Swapped to a T-56 trans a couple years ago.

Now going bigger cam, forged flycut pistons and fully balanced on the rebuild.

That's pretty impressive. What fuel economy did you get with that cam? I'm thinking of camming the Murdersofa if I can afford it. Cams are expensive though.

That was a baby cam IMO, got it on sale from Intense as somebody sent it back (had rust, they cleaned it up).

I still got 20mpg+ in town and 30mpg or so hwy with the T56. It was pretty rich still, but ran fine.

Here's some videos of the car running, it hopefully will be back together in a month or so...

Something must be very wrong with my engine. 22mpg highway is the best I see, and I have no mods to the engine other than intake, exhaust, and tune.

Are you going to be selling the old cam when you get your new grind?

Already sold it off to a friend of mine. If yours isn't a supercharged motor and running NA and/or Nitrous, I'd highly recommend Abbott Racing Heads or contact John at WOT-Tech for a good grind.

Here's the new one (WOT-Tech Thumper):

gad that's pretty. Any opinion on ZZP GT2 cams?

They're a cookie cutter off the shelf cam. They do well, some have gotten reasonable results even though every dyno is different.

GT2 Cam:
Dur 216°/216° Int .507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio, Exh .507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio 111 LSA

Abbott Racing NA Cam:
Dur 210°/220° Int .512" lift at 1.6 rocker ratio, Exh .512" with a 1.6 rocker ratio 112 LSA

Abbott has more lift, but the duration on the intake side isn't as much since the intake valve is bigger than the exhaust on the 3800 head. It's a choppy cam but makes really good power.

Here's one with open longtube headers and Abbot cam.
